Best young centre-backs in FC 27 career mode

Centre-backs aged 21 or under, ranked by potential.

EA FC 27 · 30 players · aged 21 or under

Centre-backs are the safest wonderkid signing. Their rating rests on defending, strength and composure rather than flair, so they grow steadily and hold their value well into their late twenties. A good young CB bought now can anchor your back line for a decade of seasons.

When two prospects share the same potential, take the faster one. Slow centre-backs get exposed by balls in behind in FC 27 however high their defending numbers are, so check pace before you bid. Height and heading matter too if your league crosses a lot.

Pair your prospect with an experienced partner rather than another teenager, and rotate him into league games early. Clean sheets earn defenders good match ratings, and good match ratings are exactly what keeps his potential moving in the right direction.

This list holds 30 players, all of them with potential 80 or more, and their average age is 20.1. Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid) has the highest ceiling at 89. David Odogu has the most room to grow: 65 now, 83 potential.

How this list is built

Ratings come from the EA FC 27 rosters in our player database. Every player aged 21 or under is ranked by potential, then by current overall; ages are as the game's first season starts. Values are our estimate of the in-game market value from overall, age, position and potential.
